Jacob (Israel), Peter (Rock), even Saul (Paul). God allowed them to use their new names when they were ready to fit the bill.

 

Happiness is not the key to life, but understanding how it is achieved certainly makes life much more bearable, and being happy with who we are is a major point. Being happy with oneself takes nothing away from wanting to be better – we all should – but it gives everything to knowing and understanding that who we are presently is who God made us to be. He, the master craftsman is always at His work, so we glory in our present condition, knowing that we are on our way to an even finer creation. And knowing this keeps us from putting on ‘airs’ or trying to be like someone else. Today is the day to be who God created you to be, otherwise you’ll go missing.
