30 Hour Famine 2014: Release The Feast

Prayer Circle before leaving for the mission

Thanks for stoppig by to check out this blog post. For some of you this is pretty familiar, for others, this is brand new.

Each year my youth group (The SYDe) and I partner with Worldvision to help raise funds for starving children around the world through their program called the Worldvision 30 Hour Famine. As little as $35 can feed and care for a child for a month. This year I have a personal goal of $425, which will assist one child for a whole year. Depending on how you look at it, $425 could be a lot or a little. I am looking to  I can get 425 sponsors to donate $1 my goal is met and a child's life is saved. Now don't feel that you're limited to donate just $1. If I can raise enough to personally save two or three kids from being hungry that would be even better!

To donate online, follow this link: Mr Ron's 30 Hour Famine Page
There are three buttons at the bottom of the page: "Donate $35" "Donate $70" and "Choose $ Amount" you can click any of those and it'll take you where you need to go.

If you would like to pay by check, you can send checks made payable to "Inglewood Southside Christian Church" to 3947 W. 104th St. Inglewood, CA 90303. Please note "30 Hour Famine" in the memo section.

If you prefer to bring your check or cash in person, you can visit us at 3947 W. 104th St. Inglewood, CA 90303. As a reminder, all donations are tax deductible and can count as a charitable contribution for next year's taxes.

My youth group and I will make a global impact by learning about world hunger and raising money for hungry children around the world and making a local impact through service projects and raising awareness during our 30 hours of fasting. We will be partnering with the Los Angeles Union Rescue mission this year to assist in their efforts to help the less fortunate of LA.

It is a good opportunity to focus on others instead of ourselves and give to those in need. not only will get an idea of what it's like to be hungry, but also be of service to those less fortunate right in our own backyards.

The Famine is our chance to make a difference, our chance to make hunger part of our history not our present, and our chance actually do something about hunger. Will you help me meet my goal?

Thank you in advance!

Mr Ron

God Rolls On!

Knowledge of what the Lord has done should give us great confidence in what the Lord will do! – M. DeHaan

With the help of God scrawny little David fought off bears and lions as a shepherd boy, so he knew Goliath stood no chance before him! Hmm!

There truly is nothing too hard for God. All it takes is just a moment or two of reflection; looking at His grand creation – earth and all that is therein. And though scientists and researchers are still trying to figure it all out, just knowing it works because God made it so is truly refreshing and comforting. And it has been so since time began. Sciences great discoveries haven’t changed a thing. The sun still rises and sets, the rains come and go, winter and springtime happen on schedule, all of which should bolster our faith that it is as God has said it will always be because He makes it so. And with such a proven track record, there should be no reason for us to doubt Him today! So as we walk faithfully we can trust He will fulfill His promises. Game On!

Until tomorrow….

Godly Change

If man is not rising upwards to be like an angel, he is sinking downwards to be a devil. – S.T. Coleridge

Near the end of his ministry Jesus told his disciples one of them was a devil. And each one had to give it some deep thought. HMMM!

Family reunions are great times to catch-up on old times and bring one another up to date. Often you’ll eventually hear the phrase “you haven’t changed one bit.” But to say we are the same person today as we were 5 -10 years ago is to say we have wasted a great deal of God’s time. There should be some definite growth in the life we live and the way we view the world. And done in accordance with God’s plan our growth will create a desire for even greater growth and closeness to God. God is testing us in this life to ensure our eternal desire is for Him alone, for if we don’t love to praise Him in all things here, heaven is not for us.

Until tomorrow……

All in or All Lie

A half-truth is a whole lie. – Anon

When Jesus stated “these people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me,” it wasn’t a one time occurrence. WOW!
We all know from our school and life lessons in logic that if any part of a statement is false, the whole statement is false. We should remember that deception in any form is a tool of the enemy. Half-truths are often told with the intent to deceive in some form or fashion. Unfortunately, many people seem to like living their lives this way. When we live by our own sense of morality, our own brand of truth, or our own standard of justice; and claim to belong to Christ also, we’re only half-right and in actuality only deceiving ourselves. Jesus said His way was the “ONLY” way. The Christian ‘life’ is in word and deed, not word only.

Until tomorrow…..

“…‘The most important {truth},’ answered Jesus, ‘is this: Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength….Love your neighbor as yourself…” – Mark 12:29-31
